IMPORTANT STREET CLOSURE INFORMATION
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2018 – 7:30 a.m. TO 9:15 a.m.

Edgewater Chamber’s fifth annual Back to School Edgewater 5K Walk/Run will take place on Sunday morning, October 14, 2018, at 8 a.m. The start/finish line is at Loyola University’s St. Ignatius Plaza (Kenmore/West Sheridan).

Edgewater 5k street closures Sheridan Road

The eastern (northbound) lane will be used for emergency traffic only. Sheridan will
re-open at 9:15 a.m. Any runners still completing the course after this time will do so on the west sidewalk. There will be Traffic Management Aides (TMAs) at each intersection along Sheridan to assist with traffic control. They will have volunteers along both sides of Sheridan to manage driveways, traffic, and be sure everyone is safe. If you would like to volunteer to manage a driveway at your building, or at an intersection, and/or cheer on runners, please contact selvis@edgewater.org or call 773-561-6000.

East/west traffic to and from Sheridan Road on all side streets will be prohibited from 7:30 to 9:15 a.m ., except for emergencies. There will be volunteers on side streets preventing cars from heading east to Sheridan. Barricades to defer traffic heading east to Sheridan will be at Winthrop/Ardmore, Winthrop/Thorndale, Winthrop/Glenlake, Winthrop/Granville and Winthrop/Rosemont.

If you MUST depart during the race, ONLY buildings on the EAST side of Sheridan will be allowed to exit SLOWLY out of their driveway. The cars will only be allowed to exit north to Devon. The start/finish line will be at Loyola University’s Ignatius Plaza (Kenmore/West Sheridan). All runners/walkers will gather prior to the event at the plaza.

All Sheridan CTA buses will be re-routed during the race to Broadway, and regular service will resume around 9:30 a.m. A police car will be stationed at Broadway/Devon to direct all southbound and eastbound traffic down Broadway. A police car will also be stationed at Sheridan/Hollywood to direct traffic coming off of Lake Shore Drive west to Broadway. Please call the Alderman’s office (773-784-5277) or send email jerry@48thward.org with any questions or concerns.
